Shikor- by Spatial Architects Featured in DOT Magazine

Shikor, a notable project by Spatial Architects, has been featured for the first time in a Bangladeshi publication, marking a proud moment for the studio. Though the project has already received international recognition over the past year and a half through awards and publications, its inclusion in DOT – Art & Architecture Bangladesh carries special significance for the team.
DOT is Bangladesh’s most widely circulated quarterly magazine focusing on art and architecture. The feature highlights Shikor’s thoughtful engagement with local context, culture, and architectural identity—core principles of Spatial Architects’ design philosophy. The team has expressed deep gratitude to Mustapha Khalid Palash, the Editor of DOT, for showcasing their work.
“Seeing our work, our thoughts, and our drawings printed on paper gives us immense encouragement,” shared architect Mohammad Naimul Ahsan Khan. “This publication inspires us to pursue even more meaningful projects.”
The feature stands as a milestone in Shikor’s journey—serving not just as recognition, but as inspiration to continue crafting grounded, culturally sensitive architecture.
Their proposal re-envisions the mosque complex as a sacred cultural landscape, harmonizing Chattogram’s urban vibrancy with spiritual tranquility. By integrating the historic Mughal-era Mosque with a contemporary, lightweight structural system, the design accommodates up to 8,000 worshippers while restoring the site’s natural topography and enhancing ecological sustainability.
The Second Prize certificate was formally handed over by AFM Khalid Hossain, Honorable Advisor to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Government of Bangladesh, during an award ceremony at the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) Center on March 24.
