Prayer of a Mother cover

“Prayer of a mother” is a minimalist peace sculpture reflecting on the irony of humanity’s pursuit of peace while being the cause of its destruction. From Nagasaki to the Middle East, MH17 to Rana Plaza—man-made disasters rooted in greed continue to shape our world.
The sculpture portrays a common Bengali mother, cloaked in the outline of a white shari—symbolizing grief, widowhood, and purity. Her body is left hollow, capturing the emptiness of loss. She kneels in prayer, not for revenge, but for her children to “Get Rid of Greed”—the very force that caused her suffering.
The base, shaped like a grave, signifies destruction and lives lost. Though placed in a peace park, the piece avoids graphic imagery. Instead, it offers a space of quiet reflection through form, stillness, and purity, creating a silent pressure of remembrance.
This sculpture stands as a solemn prayer of hope—from a mother who believes that only by overcoming greed can peace be restored
