Spatial Architects Wins Second Place in Andarkilla Mosque Design Competition 2025

Reenvison of Anderkilla Shahi Jame Mosque thumbs

Spatial Architects has proudly secured Second Place in the prestigious Andarkilla Shahi Jame Mosque Design Competition 2025, reaffirming its legacy of design excellence and innovation. The results were officially announced on March 17, 2025, celebrating visionary proposals for the reimagining of the historic mosque complex in Chattogram. Spatial Architects’ winning design stood out for its deep sensitivity to history, culture, and the spiritual character of the site.
Their proposal re-envisions the mosque complex as a sacred cultural landscape, harmonizing Chattogram’s urban vibrancy with spiritual tranquility. By integrating the historic Mughal-era Mosque with a contemporary, lightweight structural system, the design accommodates up to 8,000 worshippers while restoring the site’s natural topography and enhancing ecological sustainability.
The Second Prize certificate was formally handed over by AFM Khalid Hossain, Honorable Advisor to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Government of Bangladesh, during an award ceremony at the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) Center on March 24.
